Including extensive commentaries by the Rolling Stones - Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, there are over 80 contributors in all who reveal Stu through in depth new interviews illustrated by previously un-published photographs, many of which were taken by Stu himself. Aside from the Rolling Stones, numerous band’s intimates, the famous and the not-so-well-known, have come together to make Stu a truly revealing and important book; as individual as the man himself. The voice of Ian Stewart himself is heard in the form of an unpublished interview transcript conducted by Robert Greenfield after the 1972 US Tour. Over 6,000 words long, this fascinating and unique document was rediscovered by Greenfield in December 2002 during the process of compiling this tribute.

Stu’s wonderful breadth of illustrations are exhaustive in scope and reproduced to the very highest specifications. Stu’s own photographs and memorabilia form a major part of the visual content and, an accomplished amateur photographer, some appeared in early Rolling Stones fan magazines. Apart from that Stu’s work is almost entirely unpublished capturing as it does many intimate moments to which no professional photographer had access, including the Stones’ legendary first concert behind the Iron Curtain.
In addition to Stu’s own photographs, some of the world’s most celebrated rock’n’roll photographers have contributed many unpublished and rare images, other contributors also provided photographs and unique memorabilia, plus an artwork section featuring paintings and drawings of Stu specially provided by Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood.
In order to recognise the full range of his musical accomplishments, Stu contains an exhaustive Ian Stewart discography specially compiled and verified for this book.
"When he was playing the band swung a lot harder than when he wasn’t."
"During the 1970s I always had a feeling that Stu had incredible faith in me."
"Stu used to set my drums up the way he played them, not the way I wanted"
